I know a lot of you have probably been wondering what I ride and where I get my stuff from. I have two main boards that I ride a lot, one is a custom deck from a small company in Ohio called Geaux Meeshell. This company has many different boards including the one I ride called the Dino-Nugget. The Dino-Nugget features a deep concave to hold your feet onto the board when sliding or to keep them in place while bombing hills.
On my board I have ten inch fifty degree acid melons trucks by caliber. I really like not only how the trucks look, but the way they feel too. Caliber is a company that I think always tries to provide a quality product at a reasonable price. To prevent wheel bite what I have done is bought a pair of venom 87a barrels and venom 87a cones. I put a cone roadside and a barrel board side. This gives me full range of turning ability while not getting wheel-bite.
Lastly for my first board I have had many different wheels but my two favorites are butter-balls and orangatang fat-frees. Both of these wheels are soft enough to not slide all over the place but hard enough to through down huge slides when you want them to as well. I mainly use this board to go fast and slide.
My second board is a Santa Cruz Lion-God drop through. This deck is great for cruising freeriding and depending on what trucks you have going fast. I like this deck because it has some huge wheel cut-outs as well as drop through truck mounting to get you lower to the ground which gives you a lower center of gravity.
On this board I have crossed a pair of bear trucks with a pair of gullwing trucks because the mounting part of the bear trucks were too wide to fit through the drop through hole, while the gull-wings were. And also it didn’t really make a difference in how it felt. The bushings on this board are just stock because it doesn’t really matter with the giant wheel cut outs.
The wheels on this board have changed a lot but my favorite are sector 9 nine-balls. The wheels are 72mm 75a and don’t slide at all which is great for carving and cruising down hills. I also really like them for going fast because they will not slip no matter what.
This will be my last blog post because my semester in this class is ending and also there is not really a lot more that I can tell you about. I hope that whoever is reading this has enjoyed this and really gotten something out of it. This is Will signing off from newboarders.weebly.com.
